Refundable Accommodation Deposit:
A Refundable Accommodation Deposit is a lump sum amount paid or payable by a resident for entry to residential care. The balance of the Refundable Accommodation Deposit (after any agreed deductions have been drawn down) will be refunded to the resident or their estate on termination of the agreement for residential services.
Daily Accommodation Payment:
A Daily Accommodation Payment is an amount calculated by converting the Refundable Accommodation Deposit into a daily charge using the Maximum Permissible Interest Rate (MPIR) applicable at the time of admission.
Basic Daily Care Fee:
A Basic Daily care fee is used to contribute towards your day to day living costs such as meals, cleaning, laundry, heating, and cooling. Everyone entering an aged care home can be asked to pay this fee.
The Basic Daily Care Fee changes every 6 months (March and September) in line with pension increases and is legislated by the Commonwealth Government.
Means Tested Fee:
This is an additional contribution towards the cost of care that some people may be required to pay. The Australian Government (Services Australia) will determine if you are required to pay this fee based on an assessment of your income and assets and will advise you of the amount.
